When we had our first child, I suppose I thought about how having a child would impact our trips, but I can’t say that traveling with our children has changed too much in the way of how we travel. We’ve always preferred a slower pace, picking a place or two to be based out of, exploring at a relaxed pace and generally eating our way around the area. We started traveling with our kids when they were just a few months old, which has probably ensured that they’re great little travelers.
We spent a week enjoying lots of kid friendly activities, sightseeing and Italian meals with three other families. The fact that we didn’t have to plan anything was completely foreign to me and yet it was perfection. We kicked off the week with an amazing Italian feast of antipasti, salads, grilled vegetables and meat, and dessert. The food on the entire trip was wonderful – locally grown, seasonal and simply prepared to let the ingredients shine.
